Fishing and Seafood

Harvesting wild aquatic protein in the UK

Fishing is not just a hobby or nice past-time, it is in our DNA as hunter gatherers. Particularly here in the UK, an island nation for whom the sea and inland waterways have historically been extremely important sources of nutrients, materials and transportation.

There are still plenty of folk who integrate wild foraged and fished sources of protein in their daily lives, through the information below we hope that you can learn more about this way of life too.

The articles, blog posts and information found below are based on our experiences, and have been written and compiled by Richard Prideaux and the Original Outdoors team.

If you are looking for information about shellfish or the law surrounding fishing or collecting shellfish then you can find them using the links in the menu at the top of the page.
